Final Board game

Weeellll... after a week of very few hours of sleep, I finally finished the physical copy of my board game~!

YEAH. LOOK AT THAT. BAM.
TT^TT  It took a long time and I kinda put too much glue on the board... but Im pretty happy with it. It looks nice and the board is cool. I kinda wish I took photos of the sides... Well, on Saturday I'll put on more photo's since we're going to play test it again.
ahhhh so much work....

-I did not actually make the box. I bought a few board games and added my own cover on it. The Chance and Wild cards are just card stock, 3 pieces in total for one card- needed the thickness on it.-

Mamba : Final PNP

MAMBA

Ah-ha! The PNP is done! Technically.
Mamba is a 2-4 player game where players race to kill the Snake Goddess at the end of the board to obtain a key to win the land. The players include: an archer, sword & shield, dual sword, and a lance user.
The game has two boards. One large and one small. Players have to cross the large board to get the the small board where the Snake Goddess is. Although once players cross the halfway point of the large board, rocks will start to fall from above. Tiles from the small board will collapse and land on the right side of the large board. Once rocks have fallen and tiles collapsed, players can no longer walk on these tiles. Be ware! Rocks can and will fall on players!

Here is a link to download the PDF! There are two links, one with the boards, cards, and players. The 2nd is the rule book. (You will need 2 6-sided dice and a 12 and 20- sided dice.)

(Yeah, look at that totally awesome illustrations guys. yay! (sarcasm~))

Them Board Game Ideas

For our board game ideas I came down to two ideas. I actually really like both ideas so Im still unsure of which of the two to choose as the final. So here are my two ideas and the basics of the game layout.
(Board Game names are in Process)

Fall to the Claim:

2-4 Players

Objects:
- 4 players
- Board
- Flagpole
- X amount of Blocks
- Chance/Wild cards
- 1 die

Objective:
Players must be the first to get to the center of the board to capture the flag before the blocks that lead to the flag collapse and no player can win.

Each player must start at each corner of the board game. Number of movements depends on roll of a die. On random parts of the board will be mystery squares, when a player lands on these squares, they must roll a die to decide whether they will get a lucky or wild card: if the player rolls a even number, they get a chance card. After each player's end of turn, they must grab a block around the flag and remove it from play. Once blocks are removed, players cannot place it back. The only way to gain blocks would be through chance cards. Adding blocks through Chance cards are rare! Players be warned. Wild cards can turn the tables and take away more blocks.

Black Mamba:

2-4 Players

Objects:
- A board and a half
- 4 players + Snake Goddess
- Dice
- Chance/Wild cards
- Tiles

Objective:
Players must reach the half board (which is the top tier) and defeat the evil snake goddess before other players and before she kills the players.

All players start at the starting point on the first board. Players must cross the board and climb to the second board to get to the goddess and kill her. Players be warned! The goddess will have falling rocks ambush players once they pass halfway through the first board. Rocks will be randomly assigned with the roll of the dice (one die will represent the row and the other the column). The top tier (the half board) will lose tiles as rocks fall through.
Players must reach the goddess before the passage to the snake is unreachable.

Apples to Catan

In our class, we had to pair up with a partner and grab two board games to combine them into one. Sadly, my partner and I were stuck with the leftover games. Which became a game that was completely silly as we kept playing. The board games were Settlers of Catan and Apples to Apples.
For those of you who dont know the two games... Settlers of Catan is a very long game with strategy and lots of time... The instruction booklet said that the game takes about an hour to play. Oh jeez... And the instructions? Oh no.
Now Apples to Apples. I personally have not actually played the game. But its essentially just like Cards Against Humanity. For those who dont know either... The game itself is just cards that give you descriptive words and players have to give the best/humorous situations.

So how in the world did we create a new game with these two completely different games? Good question. We honestly didnt know what we were doing until we already had pieces on the board. The board, which is Catan's, is detailed with roads and houses randomly placed around. Using the "Robber" from Catan, we replaced its job but making it the "situation" in each town. So the piece moves to each town with a situation on hand; the situation is chosen randomly with a red Apples to Apples card. Each player is given a set amount of Knight cards (since there was only two of us we each had 7 knights) and each knight has a personality provided by the green apple cards. The objective of the game is that each player must send a knight to solve the problem in that town. The player with the must solved problems by the end of the game wins.
I had two very interesting knight... Sensual and Appetizing. Oh, when I got those two I laughed. Those two were my best knights but I had to be careful- cause those two knights might just be my downfall as well. My partner also had an interesting pair of cards...
In the end, we couldnt get a winner due to the time limit of class, but he probably one since one of my knights died trying to solve a problem.... Never send a Healthy knight to get stoned and die....

PNP Deconstruction- Creepers

Creepers

Goal of the Game:

To win the game players aim to be the first to get the amount of points needed. Though players will need to be careful of others who can block and/or gain their points.

Core Mechanic:

Players must grow their own Creepers (plants) to gain points and win the game. Although players must be careful for each player can block and/or take away each others points. To start, players must first grow their Creepers and with each turn either add to their Creeper or try to block and slow down other players.

Game Space:

The board game itself is made of 144 tiles but where the action is, is 12x12. Players have obstacles on the board such as: walls, sticks, pool, bench ladder, and other flowers. Players can use these elements to their advantage.
Players must utilize the board space to gain the must points.

Objects, Attributes and States:

The players start with the board of the game. The game includes 70 Creeper tiles: straights, turns, lifts, pierces, double/triple forks, and 6 stones (three each).

The board is surrounded with numbered tiles 0-50. These tiles mark the points each player receives. There are no negative numbers so the lowest a player can possible get is a zero. Each element on the board (pool, bench, ladder, etc.) can either earn or lose points- the pool for examples takes a point from the player. From here, the starter player can set down his Creeper to grow. If the player has chosen few tiles from the "patches" set, they must grab extra tiles to replace them.

Operative Actions:

To find out who begins the game, the player who has a garden shall start off. If both have a garden, then the one with the untidy garden goes first. If neither player has a garden then the starter player is chosen at random.
To begin the game, players must have a stone at the "0" tile to show that neither players have any points yet. From there, players must choose to use either "patches" of tiles or mixed tiles. "Patches" are pre-set arranged tiles for the players. Mixed tiles are tiles that the player chooses to use- either from the patch set and their own.

Resultant Actions:

Creepers:
- Grow (expand Creepers)
- Block other Creepers
- Pierce (pierce through a Creeper to grow)
- Fork (spread out, ie, one head becomes two)
- Lifting (getting onto the ceiling)

Observation of Rules:

One of the grander changes for the game is the point system. For beginners, the players must first reach a total of 30 points to win the game. Or until one player cannot grow their Creepers any further. From 30 points it can go to 40 and lastly 50 points. In some ways you can change the point system to make the game shorter or longer.
Another thing that can be changed are the stones. There are 6 stones in total with each player having three. One stone is used as the point counter as the other two stones can be used to reserve tiles on the board. These stones are strategy based but depending on the players, the rules for the stones could be changed. Maybe you could get rid of the other two stones or use them for a completely different reason- for example, obstacles.

Chance & Skill:

Chance and skill varies on each person. Skill is obtained through knowledge and experience.  Chance is just plain luck.
This game relays heavily on the skill of the player- can the player grow their Creeper and slow down the other player(s) and win the game? Can they gain the points or make the other player(s) forfeit? Skill is more valuable in this game than chance. Chance is more like a side dish. Was the player lucky enough to escape the clutches of the other player(s), or maybe lucky enough to win the game?

PnP Games

So here we are, playing Print and Play games for game design class... and I must say, of all the games that were on the websites... I had to go for little kid games. It's understandable since my Mom works at an Elementary school; all these games I find I could easily give to my mom for then she could use 'em for the kids.

These three games are similar to each other... the first two are like cuban dominoes. You got to match up cards and get the object bigger (haha). Hydras and Snake Pit are the same but the Snake Pit is a bit more "difficult" since you can easily block other player's tracks.

This game on the other hand is very much for little kids. There are ladybugs involved people! Be aware that you are a ladybug trying to protect your flower by eating these insects. Its the circle of life.

Now... For many of you, you may or may not know this game... or show. The show consists of many series but the one I know the most is Ultra 7. For those who dont know what Ultra 7 is, it is essentially Power Rangers and Godzilla together. Essentially. You got your aliens, monsters, and rangers. Hooray.

Those graphic's

Of all of the game trailers out there, Metal Gear Solid V is the best so far. The graphics on the game are extraordinary and extremely realistic. The lighting of every scene is perfect and realistic to the story it tells. The details on everything is so very realistic it might as well just be an HD movie.

The series is coordinated beautifully, each game revealing new information, each game bringing new experiences and more worlds the players can enjoy. I know I've become attached with the characters in the game and I love the graphics and plot. MGSV trailer is one of the best, I love how they start off with a little mystery, not full on guns and explosions. In this trailer they start in the hospital trying to revive Snake who will be in a coma for about nine years and later have him back in action, with his fallen comrades. This trailer shows more than just gameplay, it shows story, past feelings, unforgettable encounters and new experiences that no one will expect.

I just hope one day I'll be able to work on a game as amazing as the MGS franchise. Those graphics are absolutely stunning.
